Drive-By Truckers: The Dirty South
By James on Oct 18, 2008 in Southern Rock
I picked this one up after hearing the song Lookout Mountain and decided to give them a try. I enjoy listening to Southern Rock and this is a good album but I am not sure if it could be classified as Southern Rock. Heck I am not sure what genre it would fit into. The music has a desperation and grunge/country feel to it. Kind of earthy feel but a lot of the songs remind me of home, maybe it is because a lot of the places they mention are close to home or I have relatives that live there. Myself, I have enjoyed the whole album and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to dig a little deeper into Southern style rock than Lynyrd Skynyrd. Here is a little clip off of YouTube, and if you like click the link to Amazon and pick up the album or you an also join emusic using the banner to the side and download from there.

I saw these guys open up for the Black Crows. Honestly, I wasn’t that impressed… But then I heard one of their album… I was impressed with that. I came to the conclusion that it was the forum I heard them. Every band sounds terrible at the Lakewood in ATL. I guess that’s why they are there aren’t that many shows there anymore.

Southern rock is a subgenre of rock music.Much of the old style Southern rock (as well as other classic rock) has made its transition into the country music genre, establishing itself along the lines of outlaw country in recent years.I heard few of Album and i was impressed with that.
